About My Music
As a Floridian from a predominantly southern family, my music is influenced by the musical traditions of the south. Blues, Cajun, bluegrass, gospel, and southern rock all lend their flavors to my music. Trust me, this is not intentional, it just seems to come out that way. I lived in England during the 80's and inevitably it seems, was drawn to the new wave scene. Never allowing myself to be pigeonholed into one genre, over the years my musical influences have run the gamut. Always a lover of words and writing, I wrote poetry starting at a very young age. Now my affinity for both words and music have merged and given birth to a singer/songwriter with a story to tell and a hint of mischief and humor.
Musical Background
I was named after a favorite aunt of my father's, a talented singer, pianist, and music teacher who made her home in Tennessee. I was classically trained in voice and piano starting at around 9 years of age. I have three older brothers, two of whom have worked as professional musicians, so music and going to see big brother's band was a part of growing up. Seattle's lively music scene along with my close friendship with the two lovely ladies of Ruby Shuz have reawakened my dormant musical roots. Run for your life.
